Gallop South was formed in 2006 as a partnership between thirteen thoroughbred racing clubs in the Southern region of New Zealand to promote and administer race days on behalf of all of the member clubs. The partnership now administers 10 Clubs and is governed by a board nominated by member clubs. The current board chairman is Peter Grant.

The arrangement of race meetings around the lower South Island and spread throughout the season indicates bang for your buck.
